Copyright is a very important step in your career.
You must register your music/CD with the
Government in order for it to be a legal
Copyright.

Mailing a copy of your music to yourself is
NOT a legal copyright.
Copyright literally refers to the "right to copy".
The owner of a song controls this right and can grant
others permission to use the song and can sue anyone
who uses the song without permission!

With one exception-
The first owner of a song is the songwriter. The
songwriter may then sell the copyright to a music
publisher in return for cash payments and continuing
royalties. This way, a song copyright is like other forms
of property. It can be bought and sold. When there is more
than one writer, there are special rules regarding dividing income
and selling song copyrights.
There is one situation in which the writer
of the song is NOT the owner. This is when
a person is employed as a songwriter.
In this case, the employer OWNS the song!
Just something for all you writers to think
about ....
We provide you with the correct applications
to register your music with the library of congress.
Your copyright applications will be mailed priority and arrive in 2-3 business days.
Once you receive your package a representative will help you complete your
applications over the phone.

It will save you time and money to register
the entire CD on one registration application.
This form (PA Form) is included with our copyright packages.

Once copyright is complete you will
receive your certificate in the mail within
